How to Create and Get the Link of PDF of your Free Giveaway Book Using Google Drive

This free book should be one that your audience or target audience will appreciate and hence it will likely help build your mailing list.  
With Google drive, you can remotely host a PDF of your already formatted book with marketing or promotional links strategically placed in various parts of the book.
Once the formatting is complete, you can then login to your google drive account and upload it to the cloud. The following are the steps to get this properly done.

Decide on the Topic of Your Report

Choose and write on a good topic that relates to your niche and resonates with your your target audience.

Format and Convert the Document to PDF

Prepare and format it the document and ensure that it is a good marketing material for your rand or products y strategically placing the links to your products (book pages), websites, email subscription and social media profiles.
Convert it to portable file format (PDF).

Upload it to Google Drive

To upload your already formatted pdf eBook to your Google drive space, follow these steps:
  • Sign-in to Google Drive with your gmail account to have access to the free cloud space for your gmail account from Google.

  • Click the drop-down menu on “My Drive” and select “File”.

  • Navigate to the location of the file in your computer and double click on it to upload it.
  • It will then start uploading and once you see the “upload completed” notification, you are done with uploading the free PDF book to your Google drive space.
  • Change its Sharing Permission status to Public.

  • Select the file which is now on your Google drive space and click the “Share” icon from the Google drive menu.

  • Click “Advance” from the the share dialog box and change the file's sharing permission status private to public, so  that anyone on the internet can have access to it.

  • Copy the share link URL on the dialog box.

  • Click the “Done” button. 

Share the Google Drive Report's URL to Promote your Brand or Products

You can now share this link with your fans through social media, or your website and hence creating additional visibility for your rand or products.

How You Can Get The Best From Goodreads as an Author

What is Goodreads?

Goodreads is a social cataloging website that is reader centric but also a great place for authors to socialize with readers. It is also an Amazon company.
It gives leaders the opportunity to add books to their Goodreads shelf, review or star-rate books.
It also gives authors the opportunity to create a Goodreads author account in addition to what readers can do.

Maximizing Goodreads Potentials as an Author

The following tips will be of interest to you if you want to maximize the potentials of Goodreads.
  • Convert your reader account to "Goodreads Author" if you have not done that.
  • Make use of the "General update" feature to announce events or promote new releases.
  • Feed you author blog or website posts to your Goodreads blog.
  • Join groups that suits your niche.
  • Review books in your niche.
  • Participate actively in forum discussions.
  • Look out for those that share similar interests as yours and add them as friends.
  • You can creatively look out for reviewers and ask them to review your book but be professional about it.
  • Do not spam forums with your book, rather use threads dedicated to author promotion to market  your books.
  • You can also use Goodreads giveaway to create visibility for your book.

Be Patient With Goodreads!

As an author, you have to be patient when you use Goodreads and not expect a sudden books sales resulting from being on Goodreads. Be active in the forums, add Targeted friends and participate in discussion. All of this will help you build a fan base such that a good percentage of them can become loyal fans later.

Don't of Goodreads!

Avoid spamming others or forums with your books, as this will put you in a bad light and discourage people from following you.

How to Publish your Books Successfully Through Smashwords

Authors who published through Smashwords will always give it one unique credit as an aggregator and that is the fact that its strict eBook formatting guidelines and its autovetter errors quickly helps a newbie indie to learn and increase his formatting skills.

Premium Distribution

It is only books that are free from autovetter errors that are given the Smashwords premium distribution status.

This must be the case if you want your books to qualify for Smsshwords premium distribution and hence your book being distributed to its partner digital stores like Barnes and Noble, Apple, Kobo, etc. other wise it will only be made available in its own store.

Tips on Publishing Successfully Through Smashwords

The following tips will help you to overcome the autovetter errors if you publish through Smashwords.
  • Make sure your formatted Microsoft Word document is saved as a .doc file.
  • Do not use Microsoft Word custom heading styles to format your chapter and section headings, rather create a custom heading styles to format them.
  • Do not use Microsoft Word Insert table of content function to create a working TOC rather create your this TOC using Bookmark and Hyperlink method.
  • Do not use text box in your document.
  • Avoid Microsoft Word table and rather format your tables as images.
  • Your book's blurb or synopsis should not be too short when setting it up during publishing.
  • Remove any links to competitors as this will prevent it from being distributed to some important stores that prohibits that.
  • Do your best to avoid nested lists in your formatting.
